Global Organic Textile Standard Certification (GOTS) is recognized as the world's leading processing standard for textile products made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria throughout the entire organic textile supply chain and requires compliance with various social criteria. In order for a textile product to be GOTS certified, it must contain at least 70% organic fiber. All chemical inputs used, such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries, must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. The choice of accessories is also limited by ecological factors. A functional wastewater treatment plant is mandatory for any relevant wet processing unit and all processors must comply with social criteria.
